I think I may have seen that same pair considerably more recently, just randomly laid-up on one of the express tracks at 86th St quite late in the evening. Wonder what the MTA uses them for, besides artificial reefs and museum-pieces?

Don't they use the old cars as parts of "work trains," those trains you see late at night made up of old cars that do maintenance on the tracks and in the stations?
