The 2009 Coney Island Mermaid Parade took place on Saturday June 20th, which started out as a lugubrious afternoon filled with heavy rain and apprehension. However, the diehards never fail to show up, and make the most out of what is most certainly one of the best parades in NYC. I was there to capture it.

I always enjoy photos from the Mermaid Parade and I thoroughly like 'mermaid mama' since we both have crow tattoos.
