While I haven't been following the dsussicion above very keenly, I have a got a gist of it and I would like to share what I think. This entire cartoon controversy is stupid. Not that I support it, but I don't support these protests anymore either. People burning down their own country just because they heard' that something blasphemous in a newspaper of a country so far away they don't know where it exists is foolish. It's not the first time something blasphemous appeared in a foreign newspaper. Had these people really cared, they would have protested back in November. One newspaper, ten newspapers, what difference does it make it its that blasphemous. U get to read offensive articles in papers, magazines and books every day as well as shows on TV and websites from the internet. Why not protest against those? or are hand drawn pictures more offensive?Forget cartoons.. Just like charity begins at home, nit-picking should also always begin from one's own head. Why don't people protest against lollywood and those dance parties where alcohol is openly consumed. That too is against the religious doctrine and the teachings of the man called Mohammad who we claim to follow. Why should be alcohol and pork sold to even non-Muslims in this country? If that's ok, I guess entertaining a non-Muslim with pork and alcohol in a Muslim household or party shouldn't be considered objectionable either. The point being that, it's just as blasphemous. Forget anything, all the people protesting here should have just as much problem with the night long TIP dance parties where our apparently all year round dopatta clad sharif' girls freely shake their booties with boys on jai jai shiva shankar..'.Think think..

Surely a Most Rosy Dale

I spent some time hoofing it around Rosedale last week, an affluent neighbourhood with a history about long as Toronto. Rosedale was eventually swallowed up by the city, but because nothing ever seems to happen without a fight, the neighbourhood...
