Trabant in NYC

Quirky! I'm guessing this is either your car or someone you know....otherwise, did you follow it around?

Its my car. I went around the city and photographed it near famous sites since the car is so rare in the US (there are probably about 100+ here). I thought it would make some unique photos.

Back in the 80s car buff Jay Leno heard about the ten to fifteen year waiting list to get one of these and decided to try and get one on account of it must be a great car so he contacted the East German consulate to see if he could get his name on the list.

East German government, always looking for hard currency immediately ships the next car off the line to him. A few weeks later he send a message back to the consulate.

"This has got the greatest car in the world! The cardboard mockup your government sent me actually has a working engine in it!
