Manhattan Part of the NYC Flashmaps Series This article has been viewed 1630 times in the last 15 months Shawno: 14th May 2009 - 04:53 GMTAnd no area codes on any of the numbers. Something tells me there's more than one area code now for New York City. Peter: 14th May 2009 - 04:58 GMTall manhattan landlines are 212, then and now... though now you actually have to dial it.
Peter: 14th May 2009 - 05:59 GMTin nyc, manhattan has always been 212, brooklyn/queens/bronx 718, etc... i even had a 212 mobile area code once. pierre: 14th May 2009 - 08:30 GMT347- New York City marber: 16th May 2009 - 02:22 GMTinfo is out of date. Pan Am no longer exists. EAL no longer exists, etc Throwback: 19th May 2009 - 02:12 GMTNYCs telephone system would be interesting to explore... There's a lot of history in that as well, from the old electromechanical switching systems operating under Bell to the rich phone phreaking history of people trying to explore and abuse the network... There's some weird telephone #s out there today still, of interesting recordings and such. Some sound like they're running on some old equipment too, from like the 70s and 80s. Nice flashback Peter: 19th May 2009 - 02:18 GMTlol, i had a dialer when i first moved to nyc... they changed from that system about a year later, though.
