Long Island and metro NYC from 35,000 feet. Pubished on page 156 of the book 'Man-made America - Chaos or Control?' by Christopher Tummard & Boris Pushkarev ©1963 Yale Press
Most fo NYC and all of Long Island can be made out in this high altitude photograph taken in the late 50s/early 60s.
Some details of note - Verrazano bridge has yet to be started in this view. In the larger scale photos it appears that the Chase Manhattan Bank downtown is in some phase of construction.
