Heavy MTL 2008: Priestess

- EvilGentleman - Sunday, April 19th, 2009 : goo

After a loooong hiatus, I am continuing to post pictures taken during the 2008 festival.

is a local band from Montreal that has been quickly gaining popularity since their founding in 2003, especially overseas.

They took the stage at Heavy MTL on the afternoon of Sunday, June 22, 2008. Their set was short but energetic, and nowhere near as long as what a band of their caliber deserved.

I was reminded to post these pics when I started chatting with , who was tending bar at my favourite dive last weekend, and when the conversation moved around to music, it soon came out that Charles' best friend since childhood was , lead singer of Priestess.

In fact, Charles called Mikey on his cell a few minutes later, and was mentioning me. I said, "Yeah, I think I recall him. Chubby guy, right?". Mikey told Charles to "Kick him in the balls for me!" (For some unknown reason, I had actually mixed up Mikey with of )

My apologies, Mikey.

In another coincidence, Mikey's mother works at my kids' high school, and my kids are actually fans of Priestess.

Priestess definitely deserved more time at Heavy MTL, and apparently Mikey was somewhat disappointed to be put on for Sunday's show, as he was hoping to play the same day as his idols in Iron Maiden, who played on Saturday.

Well, 2009 will give Mikey a much better chance to get both more time on stage, and to play at the same show as some of his heroes, since Priestess is scheduled to open for when their Tour comes to Montreal's on August 8, 2009.

It would appear that Charles passed me the wrong info, or perhaps did so prematurely. It appears that Priestess and AC/DC have schedule conflicts that will not allow Priestess to open for them.

My apologies.
