groovehouse: The first pic seals the deal!

Graz: 17th Apr 2009 - 20:44 GMT

It sometimes amazes me that people can be led to believe things by someone repeating a lie continuously. The use of scary words like "marxism" and "socialism" fans the flames, when incredibly many of the people using them have no real idea of the true meanings of the concepts of ideology behind the words. Some folks are fanning flames that will lead to violence....and in some cases, it can be said that it already has cost lives.

There continues to be more and more examples of people going against the interests of their communities, and of themselves, because some millionaire in the media told them to do it.

IAN!

That said, this is all have to say about on the topic of these Tea Parties...

@graz: i passed some teabaggers in who's signs featured some pretty amusing misuses of terms like "socialist" and "commie". i engaged one, who could not even remotely define the meaning of "socialism" in any sort of context. she even accused me of being a commie, when pressed. how creepily mccarthy-esque.

anyway, love that first one, ian.

this was another favorite of mine, hahaha:

yep. now i totally understand how mccarthyism existed. the general population needs more chlorine in their pools.

Those people are so-o-o-o double-plus-ungood. Send 'em to room 101. All hail Big 'Bama!

Ivo: What is ‘Omni-pork’?!

Franny Wentzel: 21st Apr 2009 - 11:42 GMT

Derived from the 'Omnibus' spending bill that is larded with 'member items' also known as 'pork'.

Ivo: 21st Apr 2009 - 13:46 GMT

Ah, I see. Thanks.

We have to admit loons are funny (or at least they look funny when there is an ocean between you and them): ‘DON'T WANT TO PRESS ONE FOR ENGLISH’ — LOOOOOOL!

S & D: 21st Apr 2009 - 13:57 GMT

The person holding that "Don't want to press one for English" sign looks like she'd rather press one for CHEESEBURGER.

Franny Wentzel: 22nd Apr 2009 - 00:33 GMT

Nothing like bigoted remarks about a person body image to prove your moral superiority.

EvilGentleman: 22nd Apr 2009 - 17:32 GMT

Disgraceful behaviour from some Americans who have absolutely no clue what America is really about.

The racism and bigotry is sickening to watch, but at least it helps us appreciate how MOST Americans are decent, open minded people with welcoming hearts.

If not for idiots, we would all look dumb

JB: 14th Jun 2009 - 20:37 GMT

Wow, these people make me embarrassed to be from Houston and further enforces all the terrible stereotypes of Texas in general. That's a shame.

Where are the photos to represent the intelligent people, like those I've known there?

JMT: 24th Aug 2009 - 21:31 GMT

If anything, you and the rest are the ignorant!!!!!

Franny Wentzel: 24th Aug 2009 - 21:58 GMT

We all know and we understand... if you're not in line with The Party orthodoxy it's only because you're an ignorant racist nutjob who needs to be sent to some sort of reeducation camp or insane asylum.

We're getting policy from people who've made no bones about dunning 'whitey' for all the sins of the past - never mind that the 'whiteys' living in the US nowadays largely showed up in the immigrant waves after the Civil War - but you're a slobbering bigot if you don't sign off on whatever cockamamie scheme they send down the pike.

It is interesting that when Acorn and/or SCIU violently brownshirt a rally it's called 'community organising' but when a community of political novices actually, you know, organizes they're called astroturfers or a mob or ignored completely...

... except for the one whackjob that got planted in the crowd by a well-organized opposition to discredit them.
