I once took a whole scotch bonnet, cut it up, and put it in a ham sandwich with onions, lettuce and cucumber. Even for a pepper freak like me, I would have to say I overdid it a bit!

But how would we know our limits if we did not strive to define them?

I guess I will have to stick with plain old chillies and the occasional bag of Blair's Death Rain Habanero chips. My limit on those things is two. Any more, and my stomach acid rebels.

sigh... It's not like the old days of my youth, when my mother would make me homemade chili that was so hot, I used to test it by taking one spoonful. If my lips were not completely numb after the first spoonful, then it needed more spice.

Oh! And Wings Around the World in Chicago, though I don't remember how many of their spicy sauces I've tried because I was too busy trying all the unusual ones... took a picture last time I was there but seem to have misplaced it.

Mmmm....Quaker Steak & Lube. I'm going to have to go to one next time I get back to Ohio. I'll have to get a pic of it, but my favorite sauce at the moment, beside my homemade stuff, is called Nuclear Hell. It's not extremely hot to me, but it has a good flavor.

I'd say hot sauce has a lot in common with porn--and not just Saudi scintilating key words! Like a adult product, you never know what you are getting till you get it home and try it out. So there is a lot of misrepresentation.

this for example--is tourist trash. My dad got it for me in the Caribbean. But its all sweet, and only a medium flame.

this here is the real deal, habanero---workingman's heat! Its found in the ethnic aisle of most grocery stores. Packs a real punch, and only a li'l bit does the job.

This no label, no frills Atomic wing sauce was made by a friend who runs a restaurant. They stopped carrying it, so I got part of the windfall. It is all heat, that crushes the flavor just as it would your mortal tongue. Meant to be mixed in with other saucess and salsas.

don't trust the label---you never know what you got till you try it!

I restocked today. So, apparently I eat about a bottle of the Oh-So-Hot sauce a month (though i ran out over a week ago) as well as the Crystal sauce and the (unpictured) sriracha sauce...
