Sean Hopkins: 30th Mar 2009 - 01:22 GMTThese are hot man! This doesn't have any relation to your freedom tunnels does it? Looks like a place I'd love to explore. Peter: 30th Mar 2009 - 01:24 GMTnah, this is in bushwick... the freedom tunnel is uptown manhattan... id be psyched to do the ft. totten thing coming up, but this is a place id really like to return to with you guys. yesterday was just sort of a solo exploratory trip, and now that i know the logistics, itd be crazy easy to go back. Caesar: 30th Mar 2009 - 05:30 GMTOh my, what a fascinating place. The photo above is interesting because those rails seem to just stop, going nowhere! So much crazy graffiti, too. I've been enjoying these graffiti/urbex posts of yours lately. John Dereszewski: 30th Mar 2009 - 18:39 GMTWonderful pictures. If I wasn't doing my wlaking tour at the same time, I would have loved to be with you. jeanee: 30th Mar 2009 - 18:58 GMTthis was in my dream the other night! I need to go there! Do they patrol ? How is accesibity? Id like to join you sometime... Peter: 30th Mar 2009 - 19:28 GMTcaesar: yeah, thats one of the abandoned lines. there are four tunnels: the one on the far-left is sealed up, the next one is definitely in use, the third is there and connected, but appears rusted and out of use and the one on the far right, pictured above, is completely dead. john d: ill most likely be going back... at the moment, its rather easy to access, so i hope to get in there a few more times in the near future for a more complete visit. i ended up walking the rails all the way up to english kills, so ive finally gotten a good, more complete sense of rail areas around bushwick. jeanee: your dream sounds fascinating. id love to hear more about it. its uncanny how places can have such definite meaning to the human mind. have you been to this place before? what did you dream about in this place? ntatap: 1st Apr 2009 - 22:55 GMTGreat post as always. Kevin Walsh has some photos of this same line on Forgotten-NY this week. Keep up the good work!!! CartLegger: 1st Apr 2009 - 23:12 GMTYeah, I just checked this out: forgotten-ny.com/SUBWAYS/bayridgeLIRR/bayridge.LIRR.html If its a matter of scoops, I think Peter mighta been first.... But of course, its all about the adventure! Great to make Kevin Walsh keep working for it! Now just to redesign both sites to reflect the present state of Web 2.0 Peter: 1st Apr 2009 - 23:21 GMTscoops? we're both about 95 years too late for that, hahaha... p.s: increased rumblings for the redesign have beee duly noted! IvanK: 13th Apr 2009 - 01:56 GMTHey whereabouts is this in Bushwick? I live off the J (Kosciuszko stop), I imagine this is further North? Anyway, great photos, will have to explore this myself sometime soon. Let me know if you are going back, I don't know you but I'd love to join. George D: 15th Apr 2009 - 08:34 GMTThis line was originally owned by PRR, and was electrified. That is why in the last pic you see an old copper wire. It was part of the overhead catenary system.
