Let me take you on a virtual tour of Reef HQ, where the cool cats hang out in summer.

One of the more distinctive buildings in Townsville, Reef HQ was formerly known as the Great Barrier Reef Wonderland.

Situated on the bank of Ross Creek, a short walk from the city centre. From the back deck can be seen Castle Hill and the Sugar Shaker.

This shot overlooks the main reef aquarium pond with a glimpse of Castle Hill in the background.

Right, now onto the good stuff:

Most sharks give birth to live 'pups'. The Leopard Shark however lays eggs. When they hatch, they look like a slightly paler and much smaller version of this fella, probably about 6 months old:

A curious Moray Eel.

The highly venomous sea snake and his mate the equally venomous stonefish.

The charmingly named and rarely seen live Musical Furry Lobster. Apparently, it makes noise similar to a cricket.

Seahorse

Underside of the Crown of Thorns starfish, a destructive coral predator.

The resident turtle, living with the sharks and rays in the predator tank.

Lionfish or Scorpionfish, I can never remember which one this guy is.
