Jack Kerouac's House

Once again, reading meters has led me to another interesting find. This house is situated right off Atlantic Avenue on 134th street and 94th ave in . It was occupied by the great Jack Kerouac in the early 1950's, and it is said that he worked on three novels while living here, "The Subterraneans", "Dr.Sax", and "Maggie Cassidy". I doubt all those gates were there when ol' Jack lived there though.

Apologies for the poor quality, I had to snap it with my cell phone.

Unfortunately, the meters are outside so I haven't gotten to see the inside of the house, however I did speak to the current resident about this, and he claims to have some of Kerouac's typewriters up in the attic. This was sometime last year, and every month I pass the house I hope to see him again, just to see if he's willing to part with one- for a reasonable fee of course. I don't think it would be well received if I rang the doorbell. "Hi, I was just reading your meters, and I was wondering....."

Man, that is awesome! I too would have inquired about a typewriter for a fee, as well, good luck if you choose to go through with it. Thanks for sharing!
