[previous] :: [next]10 inches of snowfall today here in NYC, and of course; Con Edison wants their electric meters read. I saved the cemetery meter for last so afterwards I could go trudging through the snow to snap some photos.

Peter: 3rd Mar 2009 - 03:01 GMTand got an excellent photo of it, no less! every flick ive caught was backlit and way too dark. i like these, sean. the fist time i went there was barely a dust of snow on the ground. to see it covered like this must have been something, especially as a solitary, gray exploration. you also caught some great new views of stuff from this post, like the wheels in photo #1:
CartLegger: 3rd Mar 2009 - 03:17 GMTI admire the photos almost as much as I admire your determination to get out in the snow! I guess ya had to go in, Meter Reader! What a fascinating line o' work!
ntatap: 4th Mar 2009 - 02:40 GMTSean, Excellent photos!!! The place looks very peaceful, snow has a way of making anything look peacful. Does anyone have any idea what the wood artillery wheels are about? Also who is the statue of on top of Schwartz? I am guessing its a Hebrew prophet or Moses. Am I right?
thefirethorn on LJ: 5th Mar 2009 - 01:17 GMTI found this through Found Objects on LJ. All I can say is WOW. I am reading The Graveyard Book right now -- you should check it out. You could have been the illustrator. These pictures will be in my new "the seasons" screne saver. I LOVE THE FUNNY PREACHING MAN! Seeing him covered in snow is just adorable -- he looks so patient! gaudete1066: 31st Mar 2009 - 14:06 GMTThefirethorn, the funny preaching man may be a Rabbi. And he does look rather patient, doesn't he? :-) Kalila Borghini: 5th Aug 2009 - 18:46 GMTHi there. I just found out that my grandfather and perhaps my uncle are buried at Acacia Cemetary. How would I find out if they are and where they might be? Is there a records office or some central agency that lists the names of the dead. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. I want to pay visit them and pay homage. Thanks.
