James Cook University university architecture building buildings This article has been viewed 1018 times in the last 23 months Peter: 24th Feb 2009 - 14:18 GMTi like the cement window louvers in the first photo... that made me at first think it must get really hot there in the summertime, but it looks very lush there, and google tells me the average high in december is only 31c! Mime: 24th Feb 2009 - 23:36 GMTPeter, it sure does get hot here in summer. 31c may not sound hot but couple it with high humidity and it's very uncomfortable. I remember when I was in grade 6, it reached 45c. The teacher was wandering around spraying us with water to keep us cool. That was in the days before every classroom was air-conditioned. It did get slightly above 40c this summer for a bit. I still have no air-conditioner. Tried and true, spraying water under a fan still works. The reason everything looks so lush is because of the great wet season we've had this year. Right on cue, just as I was about to start typing this, it started raining. anon (proxy5.eq.edu.au): 25th May 2009 - 04:53 GMTThe Library pic three is meant to be in the shape of a boat, or so i'm told. mime: 19th Sep 2009 - 09:42 GMTNamed the Eddie Koiki Mabo Library in recognition of his work around the University campus. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Mabo Arthur: 24th Sep 2009 - 17:04 GMTI did a year here as an exchange form OxBridge.
