Closeup of the triangle between Broadway and Madison Avenue and why yes, I do happen to own stock in Spencerman Steel Pens - they are the best.

In the 1930s the Fuller Company annoyed by the fact that everyone referred to their home offices as the 'Flatiron Building' moved further uptown.

Franny Wentzel: D'oh! Spencerian Steel Pens...

how's your stock doing? wish there was a picture of the corner today. evil gentleman would have liked the before and after.

Franny Wentzel: 21st Feb 2009 - 01:58 GMT

Did some googling of the company and I beginning to think they're no longer in business. Which perhaps would explain why I've yet to receive a quarterly or annual report...

Oh well maybe I can buy up the rest of the stock cheap, own the company outright and bypass the usual SEC hassle should I ever want to go public with a company of my own.

The one time I'd been close enough to the Flatiron building to get a similar 'after' shot I'd run out of film so I'll have to rely on the innertubes for some pictures...

First another before shot...

Live on Long Island...

Reminds me of this nice Dutch Colonial I was thinking of getting till the realtor mentioned something about Al Capone rubbing out this swami dude who ran a 'love colony' in the 1920s - the guy was making moves on Mis'ess Capone - and Jimmy Hoffa'd him into the foundation. Wasn't about to live on an Indian burial ground so I passed.

A close after shot. Needless to say when your subject changes size so dramatically you're not likely to get an exact match...

Prow shot... reminds me of this childrens book 'Mr Yowder and the Steamboat' where Mr Yowder manages to drive said steamboat uptown till he rams the Elevated line...
