New 3rd Avenue Bridge Being Floated in

Here are three photos of the New 3rd Avenue Bridge while it was being floated into place in 2004. These photos were taken from the Bronx shore. The Tribrough, Willis Avenue and the old 3rd Ave bridge are in the background. Its not every day you see a bridge on a barge!
This article has been viewed 1413 times in the last 33 months Peter: 18th Feb 2009 - 01:12 GMTawesome! i was particularly psyched to see this post, as ive always been interested in this bridge. i rowed under it daily for 4 years in the 90s, and it (and some of the other bridges on that stretch) was under repair even back then, haha. i never knew they could just float in a new bridge like that, but go figure. it makes sense.
