The stingray-shaped kite in this last photo is supposedly the largest kite in the world.

The ball-shaped kites were attached to the ground in such a way that when a gust of wind picked up, they would bounce charmingly.

Most of these kites were airborne for the 6-8 hours per day over the weekend of the festival.

ahh, what a nice looking summer day... its below freezing today here in nyc, so these are a good sight to see. i like the second one particularly.
