Joe the Plumber: 27th Jan 2009 - 20:04 GMT

You can tell by where the icicles are on the door (and window to the right) that this was caused by a incoming water pipe freezing and bursting. I know its hard to believe, but its conceivable that that entire ground-floor is full of several feet of water, and the areas where you're seeing it freezing are the one or two places where its managed to flow over/through the door frame or window glazing, otherwise, you'd have icicles above the door and window too. And my, look at all that water/ice on the sidewalk. Somebody's got a pretty major wintertime plumbing emergency on their hands, regardless.

Fedders must make some powerful air conditioning units!

just passed by there again... "joe the plumber" is right, you can actually hear what sounds like a waterfall inside the entire ground-floor of the building. the frozen door, pictured above, had been popped open with a crowbar (the door-facing was ripped up) and a lot more ice had accumulated:

yup, this was the beginning of the end for this building... at least one person is squatting in it for now, though. it still has electricity.
