History On The Move

- Brad - Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 : goo

I've been going through some of the old "Favorites" on my computer and noticed that this site had gotten lost among them. It's been almost a year since I've posted anything on here, and I've got a lot of browsing to do to get caught up!

These pictures are of the old Maisenbacher House in Springfield. It was recently moved from it's old location at 7th & Scarritt, north to it's new home at 7th & Jackson. The house is about 150 years old and it's historically linked (ever so slightly) to Abraham Lincoln. The first two shots are of the actual move on November 15th, the third and fourth shots are of the house getting settled onto it's new lot on December 13th.

I'm glad they finally got it settled in. I remember reading that it had been parked in the middle of a street for a few weeks.

wow! whats even funnier is that the way i had my browser sized, when i loaded this post, only about hte top 2/3 of the first photo was visible, and i was like "hmm, a house. ok."...

imagien my surprise when i scrolled down further and saw that it was indeed a house... sitting on two flatbeds in the middle of a road :-0

p.s: welcome back! always good to see familiar names with awesome new photos :)
