Actually, I looked the railcar up online and it appears the proper name of the railroad is , and its official registration would be .

Peter: 5th Dec 2008 - 22:55 GMT

yeah, thats a car-hauling TTX car, and lots of those run on BNSF. as both a new yorker and a graf fan, i dig this. thanks for the post, eg!

Rick: LOL - No shitting black Labs!

EvilGentleman: 6th Dec 2008 - 00:14 GMT

Rick, check out my article on those signs titled No Shit!

Rick: 6th Dec 2008 - 00:51 GMT

Wow, hahaha. I guess that's a Montreal thing? I've never seen anything so..... clearly persuasive? LOL.

EvilGentleman: 6th Dec 2008 - 01:09 GMT

I think it may be specific to the Montreal suburb of , where I live.

vanessa: 9th Dec 2008 - 03:20 GMT

hurrah to evilgentleman for uploading some montreal stuff:)
this is pretty awesome, might i add.

EvilGentleman: 9th Dec 2008 - 14:37 GMT

Thanks for the compliments, Peter and vanessa.

Anybody have any luck yet deciphering the artist's tag?

EvilGentleman: 10th Dec 2008 - 02:17 GMT

Thanks, Peter.

Pretty neat, how an artist from the Maryland suburbs of DC can have their work be seen in Montreal 6 years later.

Thanks to (NORES) for this one.

Why does this make me think of "Oh thank Heaven for 7-11!"....?

Peter: 10th Dec 2008 - 14:18 GMT

whats more fascinating is that doesnt even run in ! or wait, was the engine bnsf too (orange, black, yellow), or just the car?

EvilGentleman: 10th Dec 2008 - 15:10 GMT

Just the car. The engines were CN, about 4 cars forward of this one off the right side of the photos.

I must admit that I am not sure whether this car was carrying automobiles or not. Usually it is easy enough to check, you just have to move yourself around a bit side-to-side and up-and-down, so that the perspective changes and the ventilation holes line up, and then the points of light (or lack thereof) make the outlines of the vehicles inside apparent. But in this case, the car was immobile, and I was focused on the graf, so I forgot to check if it was full or not.

I would imagine that the railcar was delivering cars from either or possibly somewhere in , heading for dealerships in Montreal. Although I often see these sorts of cars heading into Montreal empty. I figure when that happens, that they are probably going to the to pick up cars arriving from overseas.

And as far as trackage rights go, there is a facility in that does work on the engines of , despite the fact that Union Pacific does not operate in this part of the continent. I always see a line of UP locomotives by the side of the road as I pass, some with engines in them, and some with transparent sheets of plastic covering the holes where the engine is supposed to be. I have tried to enter the site before to take pictures, but was stopped by security, since I was blocking their overfilled parking lot. I will have to see about giving it another go if the weather ever gets nice again.
