sheesh. growing up on long island i was always told that tornadoes were not a thing that happened in my part of the country, though the past two or three summers have seen a scary (to me) number of funnel clouds and several bona fide tornadoes.

malenky ukrainska, I grew up on Long Island as well, and I remember several tornado touchdowns in the 90's, especially out in Suffolk. I started the Meteorology Club at my H.S. (GEEK!) (syosset) and remember all the tornado erections I got.

my hometown of london is supposedly in the very northeastern tip of 'tornado alley' and that's only a couple hours west of toronto by car. but i had never seen a funnel cloud in person before friday (outside of my dreams, where they seem to make frequent appearances for some reason). it was exciting and strange.

I just moved to Hamilton in June. Never actually seen anything tornado related in real life but in these three months I've seen two funnel clouds at least. Not fun.
