Great image and yes it was once the world's tallest. My most profound memory of the Woolworth Building was being on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade late on the night of 9-12-01 and seeing the entire top third of the Woolworth Building completely obscured by the massive plume of smoke emanating from the ruins of the (also once the world's tallest) WTC and heading at that particular moment toward north Brooklyn and Queens. The F16's roared and the people trembled.

Franny Wentzel: 5th Jan 2009 - 23:58 GMT

Was pretty close to that spot way back in May of '02

Looks like the infill building behind the Woolworth is a another building site now.

Ollie's Trolley

"Ollie's Trolley is at 3rd and Kentucky. It's been there for years. I haven't gotten food there in years but I remember that their fries were the best I had ever had."
