Downtown 1

This is my little attempt at a series - though the subject is a bit tenuous; just my way around downtown Sydney today. It's in response to someone who asked to see more of Sydney, someone else who wanted to see more than skylines, and another who wanted more than just single pics! (Admittedly, as I'm new to Citynoise it took me a while to figure I could post more than one pic at at time.) So here goes -

On the way to work, I pass a little old church now quite lost amongst the concrete and glass.

Pitt st, the main shopping street in the heart of the city, taken later this morning.

I think Pitt St mall has the highest density of buskers per square metre in the Southern Hemisphere. It's where famous YouTuber 'Juan Mann' began, and he still sometimes makes appearances.

Sydney's Disneyesque transport; a circuitous monorail that has a pretty inapt route. Built in 1988, it took a long time for locals to get used to.

The ANZAC War Memorial, its reflection in the Pool of Remembrance, taken in Hyde Park on my way home tonight. It was completed in 1932, a beautiful, serene art deco monument with bas reliefs and carved statues.

Cheers.

Classic citynoise! Thanks for tihs slice-of-life from the other side of the planet. I love the mix of old and new, it's not how I imagine Sydney, or Australia in general to look. Quite colonial, which I suppose is to be expected, what with you being one of our ex-colonies and all that ;-)
