While talking to people in Cabot Square across from the old Montreal Forum on a recent afternoon, I wound up talking to Sammy, a fellow who just recently arrived in the area from Ottawa. He was looking to sell these old LP phonograph records that he had painted his graf on. I immediately started calling it phono-graf, and he liked the name.

He told me he uses the tag Sesame, a play on words for the French "c'est Sammy", or "it's Sammy"

I asked if he would be willing to let me take pictures of his pieces, and he agreed, and then laid them out for me to photograph.

I saw Sammy again later that evening, and he was now disheveled and covered in blood. He had gotten into a fight with someone, and he had to take off. While he was gone, someone took his bag. His pieces were gone. Stolen.

All that remains are these photos.
