same old timer who was in charge of the color corps posed for the newspapers and gave autographs after the parade, yes it's jack, but his wife saw a tear wet his cheek when taps were played and he was thinking of the 22 young boys who died in his company and especially his friend Javier (Korea) Alonzo (the Korea is an inside joke with a few of us) who died while jack was talking with him on the radio and yelling for him to get out of the tank, Javier, still 20 years old and jack, he survived and is an old grandfather who still remembers him as if it was yesterday, he cries for them, just boys serving their country, for all of you out there be proud and remember that the foundation of liberty is built on the tombstones of those who died.

a greeat man who was trained for combat by marines in 1942, served with the combat seabees, and help the marines at Saipan. Iwo, Quadalcanal, Midway and then in China and Manila. He remembers and his face is etched with every battle, every death, he is a kind old man now who just wants to live in peace, still married to his sweetheart after 61 years and he said to me, when I look at her, he still sees the beautiful 19 year old girl he met back then.
