Lachine Canal at Dusk

I've taken to walking along the in the evening in an effort to lose the winter bulges. In some places it's so peaceful I almost forget I'm in the big city.

This was taken last night around 8.00 PM with my "point and shoot" Kodak, which didn't really do the colors and mood justice, but anyone who knows the area can imagine how pretty it really was.

I know the area well. CE and I have biked around this area before. Sunsets there are quite beautiful, with the sun reflecting off the tops of the colourful buildings, and that in turn reflected off the placid waters of the Lachine Canal, and the mountains in the distance. (Yes, we Montrealers call the stumpy hills in these parts mountains)

This isn't far from my house. EG is right, the sunsets down here can be beautiful. I have some pictures that I should post sometime.

I was back down there today but decided to walk west (away from the city) rather than east. I saw several gentlemen with cameras along the way and must admit (blush) that I wondered if any of them were you or EG!

Please do post your pictures if you have some time, I would love to see them!

I have an old pic from 1994 or 1995 posted in one of my posts in the Train Derails on Bridge series. I am currently about 305 pounds (people always guess me at about 250 or 260), 5 foot 10 (I lost an inch due to a missing spinal disc), late 30's with a receding hairline.

CE is a lot younger, slimmer and has a fuller head of hair. I have said enough, I had better let him speak for himself, if he chooses to do so.

Wow! Those derailment shots are captivating, and even more so to me as I work for a railroad. Thank you for sharing, and I'll keep an eye out for you based on that posting and another one of yours where you have some fine shots of your long evil toes!

I loved walking along the Lachine Canal and stopping at the St. Gabriel Locks in Pte. St. Charles, when I was living In Pointe St. Charles back in 2005
