elaine: 31st Mar 2008 - 19:55 GMTi stayed in an apartment on tompkins square park when i went to new york for the first time. i got up crazy early because of the time difference and walked around. i saw a rat as big as a dog, with a crowd of new yorkers standing staring. my guess is that something has to be pretty bloody weird to make new yorkers stand and stare. CartLegger: 31st Mar 2008 - 23:26 GMTThat would be the tompkins square park police riot Quite a historical turning point in the gentrification of NYC.
