Peterborough's s lasted from 1903 to 1930. Below is an early photograph of Long Causeway from a postmarked 1905. Tram number 6 was one of the original batch of twelve built by Brush of Loughborough.

This photograph taken on Long Causeway in 1929, was taken not long before Peterborough Electric Tramways abandoned its three tram routes. The bus in this picture would have been on a connecting service, also operated by the tramway company.

If you were to stand at the vantage point of the first photo today and turn to your right, you would see Starbucks. Turn to your left, and it's McDonalds. The street with the tramway where people are milling around is as automobile free as it was then. This whole area being a pedestrianized shopping area since the early 80s. Funny how things change.

theres a place here in nyc where- if you stand in front of a starbucks and look imemdiately across the avenue- you'll see another starbucks. hmm.
