Chinese Lunar New Year NYC

Wil and I went downtown today for the Chinese Lunar New Year Firecracker ceremony and cultural festival. The firecracker detonation is intended to ward off evil spirits...

Regrettably, some of these come out rotated online, and I'm not sure why, haven't been able to fix it. Just turn your head slightly left- its not the same, but you get the general idea :)

happy new year, i like the memorial for those who lost their lives, knew a fellow airborne ranger in my outfit, keung (pronounced: kern) great guy we were friends, his uncle fought in WWII, he made great meals for us in the field, made our c-rations taste good, i made the meatballs and spagetti, miss him.

jack: by the way great shots.

serlingrod: Happy 4706! nice set...

bo: that last photo is amazing. where is that?

I really like that last one, too. It's shot from the corner of Center St. and Hester, and the camera is facing northwest. It was taken just a few minutes before a snowstorm, and the skull caught my eye in the light. And that orange thing definitely looked like a robot to me :)
