Charing Cross Bridge
[previous] :: [next]peter wanted to see it so i will post this horrible picture of the bridge, think i have more but doubt it, the bridges further down the river near the tower bridge i think are nicer so i took more of those.
This article has been viewed 6371 times in the last 5 years steelisreal: 4th Mar 2005 - 14:47 GMTi used to have this picture of a guy about to jump off the bridge still trying to find it. sad way to go, me and my mate tried to stop him but we were to late. Peter: 4th Mar 2005 - 14:51 GMTthanks for the pic! i think part of why i like it is because its the underdog as far as bridges go in london. everyone loves teh tower bridge, etc... sorta like the brooklyn bridge in nyc... there are 11 bridges going into manhattan but you only ever hear about a handful of them. bridges rule. i think i might do an entry on manhattans bridges later. hmm!
elaine: 23rd Apr 2005 - 10:21 GMTi watched a bloke drown once. me and my friend called out, and he called back, but it was hopeless. it took him about 3 minutes top to tail - tower bridge to just past tower hotel. even pretty bridges make good jumps. he changed his mind, but the river is tidal and he was wearing clothes. It was the day after Timothy Mcveigh copped it, and i had been wondering how much difference it would make to you to see someone die. afterwards i shook for an hour Jamie: 23rd Apr 2005 - 20:45 GMTI can only imagine what it must feel like to watch someone die. Hopefully i will continue to imagine for a very long time. elaine: 24th Apr 2005 - 07:03 GMTIt was a direct answer to what I was wondering, and the least version of it - he was far away and I didn't know him, but my friend and I shouted and he shouted back (there were bouys near him, the police were coming etc) but we were still the last people he communicated with I suppose, and he did still die. We spoke to the police. Then we went home. My friend was surprised it didnt make the papers, but people do do tat kind of thing all the time, it isn't actually news. I got my answer. Andy: 8th Apr 2007 - 10:54 GMTThis bridge is called "Hungerford Bridge". I think it is because of the Monet painting called "Charing Cross Bridge" that the confusion arises. Even the footbridges to either side are officially the "Golden Jubilee Bridges" but are normally known as the "Hungerford Footbridges". Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
