Going Downtown to See the Decorations

My childhood favorite Bruce the Talking Spruce (discussed briefly in a post here called Jury Duty, I think) returns!!!! One of the kids here asked Bruce what color jacket he (the kid) was wearing, apparently to verify that he was really talking to them and was not a preprogrammed robot or whatever, and he replied that trees are color-blind. My parents reported that he sang some "Spruce Springsteen" to them while I was in the GameStop. Since we'd been standing and watching for a few minutes, my sister and I embarassedly went up to greet him after the kids had left, saying we'd visited him every year when we were little, and he was all "I thought you looked familiar!" Later we were heading out of Tower City and a guy going the opposite way said, "Hi! Merry Christmas!" It took us a while to realize it had probably been the guy manning the camera/microphone booth and voicing the tree. :) A very silly evening, but we'd gone downtown to see the decorations, so why not talk to them as well?

The leaping fountain, because I couldn't remember if I'd actually photographed it leaping last year or not.

Random parking garage shot. I think I liked the way the bridge looked peeking out from behind the ramp and the parking spaces.

I also took pictures at Nela Park, but none of them came out. It's been scaled back a lot from when I was a little kid anyhow.

nela park! wow. now that would have been very cool to see that place after all these years.

one of my cleveland heights neighbors worked for GE at nela park. we swam at the pool as their guests in the summertime. the wintertime attraction was the christmas lights. in later years we hung out at the lounge on noble road.
