Shell Oil Statue

This statue is in the courtyard of shell oil, near waterloo station. Me and my friends think it looks like a backbone from some ancient creature.

It's actually a fountain, installed there in the mid-sixties. When they connected it up to the water supply the wind blew the water all over the place because of the vortex effect of the adjacent high Shell tower, so it's been switched off for forty years.
