i was living in east harlem a while back and passed by a couple different botanicas every day. unfortunately, i never went inside for fear that i would offend the owner/"real" customers. i guess it was dumb of me to allow my sense of political correctness to scare me away from something so fascinating...

Back when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale, I did two years of Botanica-only Xmas gifting. It was appreciated by all, especially the Buddha statues.
