Its Been Almost Two Years Since I Posted

I'd like to see more from the townships. I lived in a township in Pt. ELizabeth while working as an AIDS educator in a school, back in 2001. It was a great experience. I think that more people should see the life there, the innovative solutions to urban problems that are a part of life there.

I know you've covered some of this before, but its a great theme!

I'd also like to see more govt. buildings. I remember the Mpumalanga parliement controvery, and wonder how the building finally turned out.

guy: thanks for your posts; im glad to see youre taking a crack at going pro- best of luck! additionally, ive enjoyed looking at your posts; the ones concerning exotic animals, especially, are just so far-removed from my reality that i never seem to have much to say, but then again, that remove is what makes them so fascinating to me in the first place...

i definitely think that posting osme information with your photos is a good idea, particularly even beyond the nuances of the camerawork, if you have the time. for me, contextualization is key. seeing a nice photo and going "wow!" and moving to the next entry is one thing, but having some supplementary info would be nice... as you see the sorts of things you post, i fear you might take for granted that we know (or even have a vague clue) as to what youre posting, or where, or why, etc... perhaps a little background information would spark a bit more dialog... like, for example, i had no idea what Nelspruit Mpumalanga even was til i went off-site to look it up, etc...

im also with cartlegger in regards to wanting to see some of the townships. your posts that interest me the most tend towards people, infrastructure, buildings, environment, etc... (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, to name a quick few). again, those things might appear ubiquitous or banal to you, but ive never seen anything like that, and really delight in the new sights of places i can vaguely imagine, but have no real idea of what the look/feel/sound like... i mean, your recent swazi dancers post immediately jumped into the most popular posts list, and has stayed there since, so apparently, im not the only one who likes those sorts of posts...

but yeah! i plan to enjoy your new posts as always, and am excited at the prospect of getting even more out of them with whatever linkage or information you can add to them to sort of flesh out your environs to those of us who will probably never get the chance to experience them in person...

also: i suppose i should start checking out your blog (www.lowveldnet.co.za) more in order to get some of that background info, eh? heh... ive managed to stumble every entry on citynoise, and i know others are stumbling it too, and apparently weve been getting a fair bit of traffic from that undertaking, so thats good... it sort of spreads the word to a demographic of traffic that might not end up here otherwise, and brings in some interesting new folks. if anyone else wants to stumbeupon too, check: www.stumbleupon.com for more information.

maybe your content doesnt really fit the aesthetic of this website which is maybe why people dont really comment. also, its not a popularity contest.. no comments doesnt mean people arent looking. but posting wildlife might be better suited on another website. if youre looking for a general audience, get a flickr account.

also, i dont know about most people but i hate seeing peoples name tags on their photos on this website. its such a diy style here even though there are pro photographers on here.. it just feels so "LOOK AT ME!!".. ya know?

@CartLegger I will definitely do more urban and periurban landscapes including townships and more.
@Peter I am in the area of the Govt buildings on Monday, I will attempt to get a few new shots for you

@Adam My wildlife is my city traffic, I prefer sites like this. It's not the only one I frequent. I may even start a flickr account but here are my reservations. Too much clutter and noise. I get better results posting here. I sign all my work.

Personally I don't give a toss about popularity, I do however need to know what the target market wants to see. If the animals are distasteful to the majority than I have other options to offer. Maybe you need to go through my whole "Gallery" to see what I have posted before being a total dick.

to put it nicely Guy, you should keep photography as a hobby, since it seems to be a huge passion of yours. But from what I have seen so far, I do not find these sellable. I am not a PRO, but just giving you some critique.
