Its a Cold, Rainy Day Today in New York

i drove in and out of manhattan today, it was rainy and chilly, my lights on, my windshield wipers swiping back and forth, cars in front, behind, on my right and on my left, cut off twice, human traffic crossing houston, waiting, inching, fire engines clanging, inching by the fire on west and cedar street, merging into the holland, there must be someplace where the sun is shining, warm air, palm trees swaying as if they were waving to you to come and play there, and to think we are all on the same planet, living in different places, dying in empty spaces where once there was life and a future, oh to go back to california, to run on the beach and bask in the sun in january, its waiting for me and you, just get up and go.
