Six hours into the 12 hour flight from Toronto to Tokyo, I woke up and started taking these pictures. These are posted as they were taken, just reduced in size. According to the flight attendant, we were flying over Alaska. So, Alaska it is. Or, is it?

my oh my those are amazing, especially the second one. only 12 hours from toronto to tokyo? shorter than i expected.

I absolutely love this pictures. It looks like you can jump from one mountaintop to the next.
I took a flight from Detriot to Tokyo that lasted 12 hours, so that sounds about right. I just love aerial photographs.....when you consider the true scale of these toy-like landscapes it reminds you of how small we are in this massive universe.

Yes, it is ONLY 12 hours. And it is a looooong 12 hours. You can only watch so much movies and can only sleep so much in those cramped economy seats. On rare occasions, my charm works for an upgrade, but most of the time it does not. The rare occasions that I had been upgraded, it was only for the short legs of my trip: Tokyo to Manila, Manila to Hongkong and Manila to Seoul. I was once upgraded to business class from Chicago to Tokyo. That's THE WAY to travel especially long hauls like a trip to ASIA. But even if I have the money to buy business/first class tickets, I am to cheap to pay for it. I was quoted $4,500 for an upgrade. That's on top of the $1,500.00 I already paid. I think I'll use that money for three more trips.

The worst was with Cathay Pacific. Although the airlines is one of the best if not the best, I do not want a 20 hour trip ever again. It was supposed to be a direct flight from Toronto to Hongkong, but we refueled in Alaska. We did not disembark during the refuelling, deicing, housekeeping, etc. It was better on the way back. It was ONLY 18 hours. I was ready to jump off the plane!

! i swear i recognize the twisty river in photo #2 from my own flight from toronto to tokyo. doing it in winter made me wish i could be like survivorman and parachute down into the snowy wilderness (and survive).

great example on how beautiful the natrual world is.... too bad their destroying it.

lexibugg: 30th Dec 2007 - 23:13 GMT

no, a large portion of alaska is protected land, and a large portion belongs to native tribes, and everyone is doing there best to keep it beautiful, unlike the rest of the world!!!
