Peter: 18th Sep 2007 - 17:10 GMTthat building is the plaza hotel jack: 18th Sep 2007 - 20:34 GMTpeter, in a million years i never would have guessed, it looks so much like the dakota, now i feel i wrote a story about the beatles was a waste. Franny Wentzel: 19th Mar 2009 - 04:42 GMTToo bad The Plaza Hotel is largely going condo with only a token hotel presence left guest: 24th Aug 2009 - 00:58 GMTJack, not a waste at all. The resemblance is very clear, because they are both by the same architect, Henry J. Hardenbergh. They are easily his 2 most famous buildings. His style was distinct, and as you walk around the city, when you see a building that looks similar, it is quite likely that he designed it, too. I know there is a chunk of town houses just north of the Dakota, and a beautiful building on the corner of Lafayette and Great Jones by him. Happily, they are all landmarked, or you know the kind of shiny glass boxes that would have already replaced them. Comment on this article..Browsing articles by Barry - [previous] :: [next] |
