Akihabara Electric Town

- serlingrod - Sunday, September 9th, 2007 : goo

[previous] :: [next]

Akihabara is known internationally as one of the largest shopping areas on Earth for electronics, namely computers and other high-tech gadgets. The shopping district is so large that much of the fringe is actually part of the neighboring region of Soto-Kanda. I'm not much of a techie and I'm somewhat old-school, so my favorite spot was Super Potato, a store specializing in 8-bit Nintendo.

very good, the third picture has a building in the center and it looks like it's winking at us.

What is with the Duty Free posted on everything?

serlingrod: 11th Sep 2007 - 00:39 GMT

my guess, sythero, is that foreigners purchase electronics from these stores to get their taxes returned when they leave. tokyo much like japan is a very homogenous place, but i did see alot of westerners in akihabara, probably getting the latest high-tech toys.

colavitos ghost: my mind is melting.
