Screwing around with nighttime light photography in Griffentown near the corner of William and Murray. Appearntly I suck as a photographer since the background is somewhat blurred and I was using a tripod. The purchase of a remote control should eliminate this problem. (the blurring problem, not the crappy photographer part)

EvilGentleman: Isn't this CE's street?

Cinic: 25th Jul 2007 - 18:29 GMT

honestly, no clue, if it is however, I really love this street, it has alot of character, its really unusaly quiet at night, its like no one has any business there.

EvilGentleman: 25th Jul 2007 - 18:32 GMT

It's also a "Lover's Lane" of sorts, from what I understand, but you have to be willing to wander in the more deserted back lots and driveways to see that.

CE: 25th Jul 2007 - 19:29 GMT

This is about a block from my house. It's an unusual street, however, every street in (the correct spelling [sorry to be nitpicky]) tends to be pretty weird. I took a very similar picture last winter in this post.

Griffintown seems to be a pretty hot topic for photographers as of late. It might be all the attention it has been getting in academic studies and in the media or just the fact that much of it will be gone soon. Whatever it is, I've been seeing a lot of people with cameras wandering around.

joey: 26th Jul 2007 - 03:35 GMT

CE- your griffintown post is still great in it's own right

Cinic: 26th Jul 2007 - 13:10 GMT

Yes, Griffintown. For some reason I always spell it griffentown anyways...
I used to live in Griffintown as well, at the ETS residence on Ottawa. Its still my favorite nhood in Mtl.

jack: 26th Jul 2007 - 13:21 GMT

i like it. mysterious, dark alley sort of thing i used to hang out in in the city.

CE: 26th Jul 2007 - 17:01 GMT

Ah, the ETS residences, there always seem to be weird parties in that building. I was invited to the annual beach party in the court yard by some people at the bizarre student dep. They were pretty desperate that I bring girls, I always feel bad for the men at engineering schools and I feel even worse for the women as they are outnumbered by men by probably 20 to 1.

Griffintown is a great neighbourhood. Not much going on and it's kinda inconvenient at times since you always have to go downtown for everything but beer and chocolate bars but it's an interesting place. Where in Montreal are you living now?

Cinic: 26th Jul 2007 - 18:28 GMT

Hey CE,
Im in little burgundy now, on St-Jacques. Its true that Griffintown is rather inconvenient. Ive also lived in the old port on Wellington which was also very inconvenient for food shopping.

Used to live in Griffintown. Lived on Young Street, near Ste Ann's Church. Attended Ste. Ann's all girl school. Was born in Griff, and lived there until 1952. Moved to Texas. Would love to hear from anyone from the Point or Griffintown. Dotsal@tx.rr.com
