more ruralnoise. i just got back from a perfect weekend at a rented cottage in central ontario's cottage country. cottage country in central ontario includes the kawarthas watershed, haliburton county, muskoka district, and the georgian bay region.

we had wide range of wildlife encounters, from a tame duck to a full-sized black bear who ran across the highway right in front of our car.

i was too slow to catch the bear, but the duck was kind enough to pose.

my camera's macro setting got a good work-out when i decided to try nature photography. this dragonfly landed on my toe.

here two ants are taking down some sort of winged bug. hool knows the name of the victim. i also saw many mayflies being dragged away by the ants, because it's the season for them.

further illustrating nature's unforgivingness, our dragonfly friend munches on a smaller insect.

one vessel on a perfect afternoon.

and then night fell.
