Walking in a Winter Wonderland

- Jamie - Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 : goo

This I braved the elements, on foot, through the sleet and , as is usual for me lately. My place of work being roughly one mile from my home makes it (for the first time ever) worthwhile for me to commute on foot. The same would indeed take slightly longer if travelled by car

Through this dismal weather. Across soggy wasteland. Along a congested trunk road. I watch all the unfortunates, sat in their warm cars, listening to mundane breakfast shows on their cheap radios, with their heads in their hands as if making some kind of insane offering to Zantos, the Pagan god of traffic lights. Please stay green. Please stay green. Please -- stay -- green. I feel my carbon monoxide induced vomiting is a small price to pay.

when i lived in manhattan, i would often walk to work... 36 blocks south, across central park, then another mile to my office onteh east side. though at the tiem i was doing it to save money, it was a singularly wonderful experience, and i recall sharing some of these same feeligns you wrote about. nice.

Re: Walking in a winter wonderland

I love the experince of waking through my city. I learn so much more about her, the neighborhoods, the hidden gardens and golden gems of beauty that you would never see or know about if you existed on buss or car alone. I love the urban form for all it's supprises.

ea: have you tried yoga? it might help you with that
