It must be easy to forget about the "war" that ripped Korea apart, until something like this reminds you.

How does this post remind you of the war that ripped Korea apart? The dam was finished in 1985 or so. The war had long been over by that point.

Also, the dam created a manmade lake if my reading is correct. Villages were submerged and people were relocated. Crazy to think about that happening anywhere but China. Three Gorges Love!

I lived in the area (Je Cheon) during the construction 1984. Got to know some people in one of the neighboring villages that was going to be under water. Always wondered what happened to them. Looks like the lake turned out nice and provides water/power...etc.
