Fifteen Pictures of Boston

I recently spent a week in Boston. For the most part, I spent each day choosing a different neighborhood and walking around. The goal was simply to experience Boston by getting lost in it. Here's a sampling from the 350ish pictures I took last week in Boston.

hi maybetoday, i liked this post. there seems to be a real strong circular undulating rhythm to the row houses in your photos. is this a boston thing, or just one neighbourhood? i've never seen this in toronto. what's the deal? is it an obsession with bay windows?

maybetoday: 13th Jun 2007 - 04:28 GMT

While on my trip, I noticed bay windows nearly everywhere I went in Boston. If I recall correctly, the building in the second picture is in the theater district. I remember seeing those row houses with circular bay windows in Back Bay, South Boston, and South End. The circular bay windows are an interesting detail I haven't seen much of in other cities.

I guess a wider view is important in Boston. Very nice set of photos.

Great photos! Thanks for posting them. Maybe a Part II is in order?

CE: I agree. I'd love to see a part 2!

i used to live one street over from that last photo!

i believe its salem st in the north end, and if anyone is ever in the city... that green fronted store is probably one of the best vintage stores i have ever seen.
i found some great stuff for my apartment in there when i first moved!

Boston really doesn't look like any other city. I love/hate it immensely. My commute to work each morning goes over the longfellow on the red line, with that great view of the Handcock and the Pru sticking up over the city framed by the charles river. It's a nice start to the day.
