Many of you have not doubt seen this mysterious and imposing structure jutting out death-star like from the streets of lower manhattan. Its an AT&T telephone switch hub for lower Manhattan.

When it was built, it was built to survive--with a two week power supply and no windows, so all inside would be shielded from the feared Soviet nukes and dreaded fallout.

Of course, now there are other fears, less tech, more tenuous, that weigh on us.

A friend of mine, who grew up with a roof in the west village told me that within the urban mythos of his friends, it was really a gigantic robot that was waiting patiently till the day that it was called upon to save NYC from doom.

9/11/01 washed away any lingering suspicions that this could be true.

to me, that building has always looked more like something out of a bad science fiction movie or video game than something real.

CE: That thing is hideous!

On 12/29/07, I had a dreamed of a windowless building imploding and exploding from within, it was located within lower Manhattan. I saw a lot of people severely injured on the ground and debris being ejected coming from within the structure all over immediate area . The explosion started from the top and progressed in a downward path. I am really haunted by this dream, has there been any one with a similar dream. I believe this the building.

Probably not this one. There are not really many people at all in here. Its just full of machines, computers, phone switches.
