I was really surprised to learn the other day that St. James Cathedral is (just barely) taller than the Peace Tower in Ottawa. The Peace Tower seems like a much taller structure for some reason.

Biff: That's because it's on Parliament Hill...

that was a rhetorical comment. But actually, no, that's not why is seems taller. It's because the steeple on St. James begins to taper much sooner.
