Gowanus: The Truth About Gentrification
[previous] :: [next]
I saw this flag waving ominously in the blue sky above gentrifying Gowanus, and that's when I realized that my greatest fears were coming to pass. Not only are rich, white, outsiders moving into poor and working class communities to raise prices and displace residents, they have a more insidious agenda: To subvert local laws with an socialist, internationalist agenda put forward by the UN. If they had their way, these gentrifiers would give up local control to an array of blue hats and blue helmets and take away our dearly cherished traditions; Brooklyn Queens Day would be just the first thing to go. What can we do to stop this insidious assault on our local laws and customs? This article has been viewed 1996 times in the last 47 months jack: 25th Mar 2007 - 17:27 GMTthere are two sides to every coin or story. i would like to hear the other side. CartLegger: 25th Mar 2007 - 20:30 GMTum...you mean the serious side where I am not mocking a radical conservative? Maybe I should make this clearer, should any students find this looking for info on gentrification. So no, no UN blue helmets coming into Brooklyn. Not yet...
