Why Does This Happen?

- EvilGentleman - Thursday, March 8th, 2007 : goo

Just some plain old garbage I saw overflowing out of the garbage can and onto the sidewalk on Atwater Street in front of the Lionel-Groulx Metro station while I was waiting for the 211 bus.

The fact that this can happen is a normal fact of life, but when I really think about it, why? Really, think about it! Are the city workers or garbagemen inefficient? Are there too few garbage cans for such a high-traffic area? Are people just plain old slobs? What are your opinions? Let's hear from you.

Or perhaps it is the vile habit of coffee-drinking that is to blame. As you can see in these (unfortunately fuzzy due to my imperfect camera) pictures, there are at least two coffee cups each from Tim Horton's and McDonald's, as well as several others, in the pile that has formed.

you know there might be some good food in there and a homeless person or a homely person like me could get some good nutrition and for free, can't beat that!!!! hey, whats in your stomach evil and whats for lunch tomorrow. someday i have to tell you about my mouthfull of tuna and olive oil and then i sneezed in the lunchroon in high school.

EvilGentleman: 8th Mar 2007 - 03:37 GMT

Why do I have this feeling the sneeze resulted in a few of your classmates becoming rather ill? I like the way you describe yourself as having a home, therefore homely. Nice improvisational usage of the English language.

Coffee places should offer a discount to people who bring their own cups. I see empty coffee cups all over the place all the time!

to all the problems that we have the problem of Garbage disposal is what i hated most..

Franny Wentzel: 15th Jan 2009 - 02:09 GMT

Maybe its the dinky little trash can that looks more like a post box.

Peter: 15th Jan 2009 - 03:58 GMT

my thoughts exactly. perhaps thats why my con ed payment never arrived :-0

zagg: 15th Jan 2009 - 06:11 GMT

Sirhcbre; a little late but better than ever: Some coffee shops do. I know Starbucks (or the one in Sarnia, Ont) gives a 10 or so cent discount - not much but technically something :)

Franny Wentzel: 16th Jan 2009 - 09:12 GMT

I think the reason why coffee shops don't really encourage you to bring your own cup is on account of fear of a lawsuit from somebody who might get sick and blames an unsanitary coffee mug.

I've never posted here before but I somehow stumbled upon this website and thus this photo. To put it quite simply, I think this is caused by slobs. I live in Vancouver, BC and I see this picture here all the time too. People are too damn lazy to hold on to their coffee cup or wrapper until they find a garbage can that isn't full. I probably would blame it on the lack of city cleanup, except for that I also work in a coffee shop. For the past six years of my life I have slowly started to lose faith in the human race. It is amazingly disgusting how people disrespect a place because it isn't their own. I'd like to see anyone do this to their own home.

Torched Van

canalside a burned out hire van, which is a bit unusual. the remains of a kebab and if you put your head in where the sliding door is open, in the back of this van there was a freshly laid human turd....
