1957 Pontiac Star Chief 2-door

image 18747
I looked and looked, but could not find any others with the rubber nose cones. I can only assume they are either an option or an after-market mod.

image 18748
Quite the intricate work on the hood ornament.

Chrome, chrome, glorious chrome.

I love these tail lights.

Nothing says 1957 more than tail fins.

Had one of these brand new a few years after I returned from the Korean War. I have had 7 or8 Pontiacs since then but this one was one of the best, if not the best. It was one of the fastest on the road in those days and with a set of dual exhaust and the proper mufflers it sounded just beautiful. K Arnold.

I had a 1957 when I was in high school. Best car I ever had and wish I had it today. Mine was a Star Chief with 3 two's and a was always a head turner. I had rubber nose cones (white) that were standard equipment on a 1957 Chevy. Pontiac did not offer them so I bought them from a Chevy dealer and drilled a hold in the concave chrome insert in the bumper and ended up with a nice look to the front end of the Pontiac. Incedently, my parents bought me the car in Charleroi, PA at Mccracken Pontiac, I couldn't afford the $3800 at the time.

My boyfriend had a '57 Pontiac Starchief way back than....(White with green rocket and green leather interior)I get all choked up whenever I see one! It was in mint condition until one night he was out with friends and ran it through an open field. Good grief...I married the guy! Someday I'll make him buy me another one....LOL

EvilGentleman: 27th Apr 2009 - 17:53 GMT

Pontiac will cease production in 2010. R.I.P. Pontiac.

Peter: 27th Apr 2009 - 18:48 GMT

these cars of yore are beautiful, for sure, but i for one am glad to see (as a corporation) trimming some of the fat, so to speak. love the cars, hate their business tactics!

Roger: 29th Apr 2009 - 15:50 GMT

carmine: 2nd May 2009 - 20:06 GMT

Does any know where you can get a model replica of a 1957 pontiac starcheif convertible with a continental kit. I am the original owner of 1. My e-mail address is debraguiffre@aol.com Please reply. Thanks!

LBrotz: 16th Jul 2009 - 04:57 GMT

I had a 57 Chieftan in high school. 347 was dumped for a 421HO and a B&M HydroStick. Ran low 11's at Houston and San Antonio. Lots of memories. Traded it in 1966 for a Chevy ll, 283, 4 speed which I totaled two months later. Wish I had either on now.

You Like My Sweater, Dont You?

Erneside, Enniskillen i can tell by the way you're looking at it. your coy expression is a mixture of curiousity and delight. i designed it myself, based on an ancient navajo burial shroud. my wife doesn't like it much. always...
