very nice pic's, i remember the area well. cruised up and down the streets in the 60's in my 56 chevy. there was a club called the 2000 club near there, a very rough place. 3 to 4 fights a night. i'll tell you a story about this old dame, sonia, sometime.

funny story, one time i was helping a friend move into his new apartment, but he didn't know where it was - just that it was 'somewhere off of Atlantic Ave,' so we ended up driving by that old Slave #1 theater 5 or 6 times. i was impressed at the time, but i had totally forgotten about it until i stumbled across it again on my walk a few weeks ago.

Great pictures, I've walked along those same streets many years ago and most of the stuff looks the same especially the armory then again they don't change. BTW the place where you said you would've missed this if you didn't look up, is that structure on Bergen St near Franklin Ave? I once went to a meeting at the SLAVE V, it used to be a movie theater back in it's better days. Thanks for the woderful pix and memory refresher. Really good stuff!

Graf Trux 9: Return of the Original Graf Trux....

three years ago i put together a whimsical article for citynoise titled "graf trux", never suspecting that it might somehow catch on and inspire a multitude of similar citynoise articles in the years to come. since then, it's been pretty...
