Biff: Shake your boots out!

when i was in second grade, my family relocated for a brief time from NYC to a suburb outside of Houston, Texas. behind our apartment was a big field. back behind that was an imposing barbed wire fence with a sign warning of rattle snakes. being a lover of snakes and other critters, I used to stand at the edge of barbed wire, desperately hoping to get a glimpse of a rattler. It was all I could do not to cross the barbed wire and conduct an all-out search for the deadly and fascinating serpents. on the "safe" side of the field were wonderful "horney toads" and, at dusk, hundreds of jack rabbits--rather impressive creatures of considerable size whose eyes shone in the dark. that field was magic to me--so full of life forms I'd never encountered in the big city. this picture evokes all the wonder and excitement of that time.

Remember taking this shot of my aunt, Father and mother at the age of 9 with My first Kodak camera in 1956. Still looking around for some other photos taken that day...
